Regional Business Coalition

In the fall of 2004, the Temecula Valley, Murrieta and Lake Elsinore Valley Chambers of Commerce met to develop a regional business advocacy coalition. Each of the three chambers respective boards of directors unanimously approved the concept of a regional coalition to represent their individual government affairs operations.

Southwest California Legislative Council

The mission of the Southwest California Legislative Council (SWCLC) is to provide a basis for the Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce, Murrieta Chamber of Commerce, and the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce to act on regional, state and federal government issues to secure a favorable and profitable business climate for the region.

How are SWCLC advocacy decisions made?
A 15 voting member board of directors meets monthly to make decisions on behalf of the three chambers of commerce individual business membership.
Who does the SWCLC represent?
The SWCLC is charged with representing the interests of the three chambers business community’s interests with regional, state and federal governments. The three chambers are Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce, Murrieta Chamber of Commerce, and Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce
How does SWCLC develop the policy platform?
ach year, the SWCLC develops its policy platform which serves as the foundation for the SWCLC’s continuing effort to improve the regional business climate. Only legislative issues, that fall under the policy platform and are in-line with SWCLC’s mission, are considered as agenda items for action from the SWCLC. Letters are sent to each legislator or organization when SWCLC takes a position and are also posted on its regional advocacy web site.
Where can I learn more about SWCLC?

SWCLC maintains a regional advocacy based web site, www.southwestca.org, which is dedicated to interconnecting all functions of the Council’s advocacy program. The web pages on the site are available to members 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. The web site tracks and publishes pertinent legislation that may impact the economic vitality of the region.

How can I stay informed about SWCLC?
SWCLC also emails alerts, known as eALERTS, to more than 3,000 members of the Southwest California business community urging them to take action on important issues impacting the regionally business climate. eALERTS are sent monthly or on an as needed basis to inform the membership on advocacy related topics that need their attention and provides a convenient process by which their voice can be heard in Sacramento.
